MAYOR'S REPORT. I TALK ABOUT THIS QUITE OFTEN, BUT I REALLY ENJOY THIS PART OF BEING A MAYOR. I'M SURE PREVIOUS MAYORS, INCLUDING MAYOR GORDON, WHO'S HERE TONIGHT, WOULD TELL YOU THE SAME. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, I GET INVITED BY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OR MIDDLE SCHOOL TO COME AND AND TALK BEFORE CLASSES. SOMETIMES KIDS ARE TOO YOUNG TO REALLY COMPREHEND WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. OTHER TIMES YOU GET INTO MIDDLE SCHOOL AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, BUT I ENJOY IT ANYWAY. SO I GET TO THIS WEEK GO OUT TO HEIMAN ELEMENTARY, ALTHOUGH IT'S IN DALLAS SCHOOL DISTRICT, INVITED ME TO COME OUT. I'M USUALLY NERVOUS WITH THE YOUNGER KIDS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO GET IT DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL TALKING ABOUT BEING MAYOR. OTHERWISE THEY JUST STARE AT YOU. BUT THEY PULLED A FAST ONE ON ME WHEN I GOT THERE. PLAYING BEFORE ME IN EACH ONE OF THE CLASSROOMS WAS ROWDY. THE DALLAS COWBOY MASCOT.

THAT'S A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW. SO HE'D GO INTO THE CLASS AND I DON'T EVEN THINK HE TALKS. BUT THE KIDS WERE LAUGHING AND SCREAMING. I'M STANDING OUTSIDE THINKING, THIS IS GOING TO BE A TOUGH. IT'S GOING TO BE A TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW. BUT THE KIDS WERE WONDERFUL. I WENT TO FOUR CLASSES. YES, FOUR CLASSES. THE KIDS WERE WONDERFUL AND AMAZING. AMAZING TO ME THAT THEY WERE ATTENTIVE AND INTERESTED AND THEY ASKED SOME REALLY GREAT QUESTIONS. SO IT'S PART OF WHAT I DO THAT I REALLY, REALLY ENJOY. AND I'M HOPE TO GET ASKED BACK TO MORE SCHOOLS.

LASTLY, I WANT TO BRING UP THAT OUR BRUSH PICKUP. I WANT TO THANK THE CITY MANAGEMENT AND THE. AND OUR SERVICE CENTER TEAM AND REPUBLIC FOR HELPING OUT WITH A LOT OF DEBRIS AFTER THIS LAST STORM. A LOT OF IT WAS FOCUSED UP NORTH OF CAMP WISDOM ALL THE WAY UP TO THE NORTHERN CITY LIMITS, AND INTERIM CITY MANAGER ABERNATHY CONTACTED ME AND SAID, WELL, WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND HIRE AN OUTSIDE GROUP TO COME IN AND ASSIST. WE'VE DONE THAT ONCE BEFORE, AND IT WAS AMAZING HOW WELL IT WORKED. WE WENT TO CHURCH SUNDAY, FATHER. WE WERE THERE AND WHEN WE CAME HOME, OUR BRUSH PILE IN THE FRONT WAS GONE, ALONG WITH SOME HUGE BRUSH PILES UP THE STREET THAT NEIGHBORS WHO LOST A LOT MORE TREES. SO THANK YOU, INTERIM CITY MANAGER ABERNATHY AND THE TEAM THAT WORKS ON ON THE BEHALF OF PICKING UP BRUSH AFTER A STORM. IT WAS AN AMAZING TURNAROUND. WELL DONE AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH. MOVE ON TO COUNCIL MEMBER REPORTS. I HAVE COUNCILMAN MCBURNETT. THANK YOU MAYOR. I WANT TO AGREE WITH CAMACHO, TOO, BECAUSE I'VE HAD PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY HAVE CALLED ME AND SAID THEY'RE VERY THANKFUL FOR THEM COMING THROUGH THERE. OUR LIONS DISTRICT TWO X ONE CONVENTION HAPPENED AT THE HILTON GARDEN INN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, AND WE HAD LEO'S THAT WERE OUT THERE THAT ACTUALLY HELPED DO PARK CLEANUPS AS WELL. BUT WE WERE ABLE TO BRING A QUALITY CONVENTION TO DUNCANVILLE, AND IT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO DO THAT. ALSO, THERE'S BEEN A COUPLE OF MOVIES IN THE PARK. ARE WE THERE YET? AND THEN ALSO THIS PAST SATURDAY, DID THE REVENGE OF THE SITH. IN HONOR OF THAT, THEY HAD STAR WARS CHARACTERS OUT IN THAT LINE. IT WAS GOOD.

ALSO, ANN AND TIM PERRY HAVE OFFICIALLY LEFT DUNCANVILLE AREA. THEIR. THEIR HOUSES SOLD.

YES. GOOD EVENING, MAYOR AND COUNCIL. JUST A REAL QUICK UPDATE ON BRUSH AND BULK. SO AS WE MENTIONED ONLINE, YOU KNOW, WE WE HAVE BROUGHT IN CAMACHO TREE AND LANDSCAPING TO HELP US WITH THE BRUSH AND BULK EFFORT AND ALSO JUST TO BE ABLE TO STORE ALL THAT BRUSH IN BULK SO WE CAN GET IT TO LANDFILL. WE OBVIOUSLY STARTED STAGING AT RED BIRD PARK, AND SO I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT REPUBLIC IS GOING TO PROVIDE US A SECOND TRUCK, AND THEN WE'LL START USING THAT TRUCK TO START HAULING AWAY THAT BRUSH FROM RED BIRD PARK TO THE LANDFILL.

AND I JUST KIND OF WANTED TO ECHO THAT. I REALLY THANK THE PUBLIC WORKS TEAM, OUR PARKS TEAM, OUR STREETS CREWS, REPUBLICAN, CAMACHO, THEY REALLY HAVE ALL PITCHED IN AND REALLY JUST JUMPED ON THIS BRUSH AND BULK EFFORT. NOW, BEFORE IT, IT WOULD BECOME A MAJOR PROBLEM. BUT WE'RE STILL WORKING THROUGH IT. AND WE WE WILL WE WILL GET THERE EVENTUALLY. BUT YES, WE'RE WE'RE HAPPY TO HAVE THAT SECOND TRUCK FROM REPUBLIC. JUST WANT TO REMIND EVERYONE, TOO, THAT THE CONSTRUCTION ON CEDAR RIDGE, THE STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT BETWEEN CAMP WISDOM ROAD AND MIDDLE ROAD HAS BEGUN OFFICIALLY. THEY DID MOBILIZE EQUIPMENT LAST WEEK. THIS PROJECT WILL GO THROUGH NEXT SUMMER OF 2027, WEATHER PERMITTING, AND THERE WILL BE LANE CLOSURES AND SHIFTING OF LANES THROUGH THE COURSE OF THE PROJECT. AND WE HAVE PUT SIGNS UP AT ELECTRONIC SIGNS AT AS YOU COME IN FROM THE THE SOUTH AND FROM THE NORTH, JUST LETTING YOU KNOW OF THE LATEST. AND WHEREAS, THE MEMBERS OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF DUNCANVILLE PLAY AN ESSENTIAL ROLE IN SAFEGUARDING THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS OF THE CITIZENS OF DUNCANVILLE. SO LAST NIGHT, ABOUT 815, WE WERE COMING INTO DUNCANVILLE ON COCKRELL HILL CROSSING 67, AND THERE WERE A NUMBER OF POLICE CARS BLOCKING COCKRELL HILL GOING SOUTH TOWARD DESOTO. AND SO I REACHED OUT TO ICM ABERNATHY AFTERWARD JUST TO ASK WHAT EXACTLY WAS GOING ON, BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND PEOPLE WERE ASKING QUESTIONS. AND SO MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE SITUATION WAS THAT THERE WAS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO HAD MULTIPLE WARRANTS, AND THAT THIS INDIVIDUAL WAS RESISTING ARREST, AND THAT THE SITUATION WAS ACTUALLY ESCALATING SOUNDED LIKE RATHER QUICKLY. AND OF COURSE, POLICE RESPONDED. AND IT SOUNDS LIKE IT ESCALATED RATHER QUICKLY AS A RESULT OF THE WORK THAT THEY DID. THERE WAS NO THREAT TO ANY PUBLIC SAFETY, AS IT WERE, THE RESULT OF WHAT THEY WERE DOING. SO AT THAT WORKSHOP, WE TALKED ABOUT WANTING TO ADD ADDITIONAL SCOPE OF WORK TO KIMLEY-HORN TO WORK ON CITY HALL AND COURT AND, YOU KNOW, MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS OF THIS SPACE AND WHAT THEY WOULD WHAT THEY WOULD RECOMMEND, AS WELL AS GRANT WRITING SERVICES THAT THEY WERE GOING TO USE TO, TO TRY TO APPLY FOR GRANTS FOR THE POLICE STATION. SO IT'S THOSE FUNDS, TRAFFIC EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT. WE HAD AN ACCIDENT LAST YEAR THAT WE HAD TO USE OUR OWN INVENTORY. SO THIS IS REPLACING THAT INVENTORY.

OBVIOUSLY LIVE LIBRARY SOFTWARE THAT'S FOR A PATRON COMMUNITY COMPUTER MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE THAT IT IS WORKING WITH LIBRARY CURRENTLY. SO GETTING THIS DONE NOW WILL SAVE TIME AND RESOURCES LATER ON INSTALLING THAT ON THE LIBRARY SOFTWARE AND ALSO A COMMUNICATIONS AUDIT.

WE'D LIKE TO PURSUE AN AUDIT OF ALL OF OUR COMMUNICATIONS, WHETHER THAT BE SOCIAL MEDIA, WEBSITE NEWSLETTERS, EVERYTHING THAT WE USE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE PUBLIC. IT'S A PLEASURE TO BE HERE TONIGHT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT SOME OF THE AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT HAS HAPPENED IN OUR PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT OVER THE LAST SIX MONTHS. AND THIS REPORT REFLECTS NOVEMBER THROUGH APRIL OF 2026. SO LOOKING AT WE'VE HAD SIX NEW HIRES, FULL TIME HIRES AT THE IN THE PARKS AND RECREATION, MOST NOTABLY TO FIELD OUR NEW MOWING CREW. WE ALSO HAD ANTONIO CRUZ AND PHILIP CASAREZ ADD TO OUR DEPARTMENT AS WELL. WE HAD A COUPLE COUPLE PROMOTIONS. KATELYNN CRUZ TO OUR SKILL MAINTENANCE POSITION. AND I WANT TO TAKE A MOMENT HERE TO STOP AND. CAITLIN IS A MEMBER OF OUR ARMY RESERVES, AND TODAY WAS HER LAST DAY WITH US FOR FOR THREE WEEKS. SHE'S GOING ON LEAVE TO FOR TRAINING FOR THREE WEEKS. THAT'S A TWO YEAR PROGRAM. AND THEN WE HAD A NUMBER OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS ATTEND THE TEXAS RECREATION AND PARKS SOCIETY ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND EXPO IN CORPUS CHRISTI BACK IN FEBRUARY. SOME OF OUR PARKS MAINTENANCE MEASURABLES AGAIN, WE HAD 240 PLAYGROUND INSPECTIONS. AND ALWAYS, AS A REMINDER, WE INSPECT ALL OF OUR PLAYGROUNDS AT LEAST MONTHLY AND DOCUMENT ANY CONCERNS OR QUESTIONS WITH THOSE. WE HAD 103 OUTDOOR AMENITY RENTALS, ACCOUNTING FOR OVER $37,000 IN REVENUES. WE HOSTED 625,000 VISITORS IN OUR PARKS, ACCORDING TO PLACER AI. AND AGAIN, JUST AS A REMINDER, THIS IS THROUGH MOST OF THE WINTER MONTHS. SO THAT'S A THAT SEEMS LIKE A BIG NUMBER, BUT ACTUALLY IT'S, IT'S SMALL.

IT'LL BE MUCH BIGGER WHEN YOU SEE THIS REPORT IN SIX MONTHS FOR THE SUMMER, SPRING AND SUMMER. SO THE TWO ANNUAL COLOR CHANGES, 30 SERVICE REQUESTS. SO I ADDED SOME ELECTRICAL OUTLETS AT ALEXANDER IRRIGATION AT ROTARY PARK, AND THEN DID CHEMICAL SPRAYING FOR ALL OF OUR PARKS. SOME OF OUR MAJOR PROJECTS. OBVIOUSLY, WE ASSISTED WITH THE HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES HERE IN ARMSTRONG PARK. WE COMPLETED A TECH STOCK GREEN RIBBON PROJECT AND ACTUALLY COMPLETED THE PLANS FOR THAT PROJECT. AND THAT WILL BE GOING OUT TO BID HERE VERY SOON WITH TXDOT. AND THEN WE SUBSTANTIALLY, SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETED THE HARRINGTON PARK BOND PROJECT, WHICH WE'VE BEEN TRYING DESPERATELY TO HAVE A RIBBON CUTTING OVER THE LAST MONTH. AND FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, SILVERSNEAKERS AND RENEW IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR SENIORS TO VISIT BOTH THE RECREATION CENTER AND THE SENIOR CENTER FOR FREE USING THEIR MEDICAID AND MEDICARE PROGRAMS. SO WE HAD OVER 10,000 VISITS TO THE TO THE RECREATION CENTER. YOU SEE A NUMBER OF PROGRAMS THERE.

I'LL HIGHLIGHT TWO BECAUSE JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE NEW, THEY PROBABLY WEREN'T ON OUR LAST REPORT. THAT IS OUR TAI CHI PROGRAM, AS WELL AS OUR PING PONG LEARN AND PLAY THE TWO NEW PROGRAMS THAT HAVE STARTED HERE RECENTLY. BARON IS DOING A FANTASTIC JOB OF BRINGING NEW PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES TO OUR RECREATION CENTER. ONE THING WE'VE ADDED OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS IS TAKING SOME OF THE OVERFLOW FROM THE FIELD HOUSE. THESE ARE EVENTS THAT ARE EITHER TOO SMALL FOR THE FIELD HOUSE OR EVENTS THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR. WE THESE ARE PRIMARILY EVENTS THAT ARE BEING HOSTED ON SUNDAYS. THAT'S IN A DAY THAT THE RECREATION CENTER RECREATION CENTER IS TYPICALLY CLOSED. SO IT'S NOT AFFECTING OUR PROGRAMS OR ACTIVITIES THAT ARE CURRENTLY GOING ON IN ANY WAY. IT'S SIMILAR TO ETHIC IMPROVEMENTS AS WELL AS ADA COMPLIANCE FOR SEVEN TRAFFIC SIGNALS ON A SIMILAR SCOPE. WE JUST GOT AWARDED ON APRIL 20TH AND IT IS SCHEDULED FOR DESIGN IN NOVEMBER 2027 AND ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION IN MARCH OF 2029. THE SS FOR A PROGRAM IS ANOTHER PROGRAM WHICH IS THE SAFE STREETS FOR. ANOTHER TXDOT PROGRAM THAT WE APPLIED FOR, AND WE GOT AWARDED TO RECOGNIZE HERE THAT THIS AWARD WAS THE LARGEST AWARD TO A SINGLE CITY IN TEXAS. AND SO IT WAS IT WAS A GOOD ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT WE WERE ABLE TO ACHIEVE A FULL REWARD OF ALMOST $1 MILLION OUTSIDE OF THE CITY'S MATCH, 20% MATCH. SO THIS WAS GOING TO BE MEANT TO CREATE A TRANSPORTATION COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY ACTION PLAN, WHERE IT'S GOING TO INCLUDE A CITYWIDE ADA TRANSITION PLAN, AND AS WELL AS A GENERAL MOBILITY PEDESTRIAN AND BIKE MASTER PLAN. THE NEXT ONE WE HAVE IS A RECENT OPPORTUNITY THAT WE ARE SEEKING.

WE HAVE NOT GOT SELECTED FOR THIS YET. SO I THINK IN THE CASE OF FAIRWOOD PLACE, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE, YOU KNOW, SWIMMING POOLS AND A BUNCH OF COMMON AREAS WITH A NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION WOULD SUFFICE.
